Bal Yesu Bhavan, Nasik, India

The "Bal Yesu Bhavan" boys home in Nasik, India, was established in 1973 and became a part of Omega's mission work in India in 1999.  It began with a small home to accommodate approximately thirty boys.  Its primary objective was to rescue the street children of Bombay and to provide a home for them.  Today, as it was back then, the boys who come to the home have endured hunger, sickness and rejection, hunting food to eat on garbage dumps and drinking contaminated water to quench their thirst.  Some of the boys have been in conflict with the law and are sent to BYB by a judge.  The authorities have recognized what a positive change takes place in the lives of the boys at "Bal Yesu Bhavan".

In the meantime, the home has grown to a large two-story facility that can house up to 200 boys.  Before arriving at our home, many of the boys have lived on the streets, doomed to a life of hunger, disease, poverty and crime.  The facility is limited to the care of boys, and before leaving our care, each boy is given a good basic education and vocational training to prepare them to make a living.  Since Bal Yesu Bhavan opened its doors in 1973, more than 4,000 boys have started a new life here.
