Bal Yesu Bhavan, Nasik, India

In 1998, a week after severe flooding had destroyed many homes along the river Krishna and more than 100 people had drowned in the raging waters, Jay Rittker visited Vijayawada to explore Omega's involvement in that city.

Although our plan was to establish an orphanage, emergency relief for the flood victims was more urgent.  Food, blankets and clothing were distributed to the people along the river. However, the care for the orphaned and abandoned children was still the main purpose for Omega's mission in Vijayawada.

In order to provide a home for these children, a building was rented and over 30 boys and girls were accepted into this new orphanage.  They are being raised in a Christian environment by loving and caring house parents and they will grow up to be responsible and productive citizens, the future leaders of their community. A building was purchased in 2005, and several other mission projects have been launched from this children's home.

In 2009, Omega appointed Pastor Joseph Roberts as our representative for the Vijayawada area. His two orphanages in Madhira and Hanuman Junction, both located near Vijayawada, are now supported by Omega also.
